I actually listened to it 3x and each time I would clip something new that I hadn’t heard or maybe it didn’t resonate with me at that moment. What’s funny is one of the quotes I highlighted in this book was, “When you read a good book through the second time you don’t see something in that book that wasn’t there before, you see something in yourself that wasn’t there before.”

It’s like you get to go back in time and pretend you are already in the future you want, and seeing the world from that perspective.

This promise seemed impossible at the time. However, Abraham chose to believe in God’s promise and started to see himself as the father of many nations, long before it ever happened.

I’ve never thought of work, satisfaction, and money in this way before but when Bob mentioned it something just clicked. Work is something that should serve us and bring us satisfaction, not something that we are enslaved to. It emphasizes that work should be a source of fulfillment and personal growth that aligns with our passions, interest, and skills. While we get satisfaction from doing work that we enjoy and find meaningful, we earn money by providing valuable services to others.

Biblical Perspective: One of my all time favorite books of the bible is Ecclesiastes and one of the many scriptures I have highlighted is 3:12-13 “I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.

Our perspective can alter your experience and understanding of a situation. If you change your mindset or attitude about something, you can see it in a completely different light. This change in perception can transform how you feel about it and how you react to it.

People don’t resist change they resist being changed!

Whew!! This one is poweful. How many times have you tried to share your faith or share what you’re learning in this personal growth space with someone and they refuse to listen to what you have to say? They think you’re trying to change them and they don’t want to be changed. What I’ve learned over the years is that people generally are open to the idea of change but when they are feeling forced to change they put their guard up.

That’s why it’s so important to share from your heart without pointing fingers at them. When you do this, they are so much more receptive and will want to make that change in their lives.

Attitude is EVERYTHING! Your attitude is the composit of your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Everything in life that you try to do will always come back to your attitude. I know I can’t be the only one that had parents send me to my room when I had a bad attitude and would tell me I can come out of the toom when I change my attitude. As I listend to this part of the book I just look back at those moments when I told my kids the same exact thing and just shake my head 🤦🏼‍♀️. Back when I was younger I didn’t know how to change my attititude and neither did my children.

But now, really diving into these books and podcasts I’m realizing your attitude is crucial because it shapes how you think, feel, and act. It’s a combination of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and it influences every aspect of your life. A positive attitude can lead to positive outcomes, while a negative attitude can bring about negative results.

Biblical Perspective: The start to having a positive attitude begins with what we are thinking about. In Phillippians 4:8 it says, “”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Also, having an attitude of gratitude goes a long way to. 😉

Everything we see in the world first started in the imagination.

The scripture that came to mind when I read that was the way Jesus told us to pray “…on earth as it is in heaven.” Everything that we see on this earth already was in heaven first.

Earl Nightingale, author of the Strangest Secret said, “You can plant corn, which is a sweet food, and not even 1/16th away plant night shade, a deadly poison, and both will grow in abundance. So it is with our subconscious mind, whatever you plant it will grow.”

To bring about real change, we don’t just resist or fight against the current situation. Instead, we need to create a better solution or system that naturally replaces the old one. This approach is more effective and lasting.

Biblical perspective: I have The Streams in the Desert devotional, it’s one of my favorite and the verse that is come from goes along with this quote. It’s from Isaiah 43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” You see, right now, this very moment you are living in the past, present, and future. We must look forward to what God has for us and for His glory.
